Former world no.1 in doubles, India’s Sania Mirza and her partner Shuai Zhang of China beat Makoto Nonomiya and Eri Hozumi in the doubles semi-finals 6-2, 7-5 of the $565,530 WTA 500 Ostrava Open in the Czech Republic yesterday.
The straight-sets victory came in just 81 minutes for the winning Indo-Chinese duo who are seeded second in the doubles draw.
Defeating the 4th seeds in the semis, Mirza and Zhang have booked their finals of the Ostrava Open against the third-seeded American-Kiwi pairing of Kaitlyn Christian and Erin Routliffe.
Previously, Sania Mirza and Shuai Zhang defeated Anna Danilina and Lidziya Marozava 6-3, 3-6, [10-6] in the doubles quarter-finals on Friday.
