India’s Under-12 Boys’ and Girls’ teams have qualified for the World Tennis 12&U Intercontinental Cup in Kazakhstan after strong performances at the World Tennis Asia 12&U Team Competition Finals in Singapore.
New Delhi, September 24, 2026: The All India Tennis Association (AITA) is pleased to announce that India’s Under-12 Boys’ and Girls’ teams have qualified for the World Tennis 12&U Intercontinental Cup to be held in Kazakhstan, following their performances at the World Tennis Asia 12&U Team Competition Finals in Singapore.
The Indian teams competed against some of the leading Under-12 teams from across Asia during the tournament, held from 15 to 20 September 2026, and secured qualification for the Intercontinental Cup through the Asian regional competition.
India made a strong start to the Finals, with both the boys’ and girls’ teams recording 3-0 victories in their opening ties. The boys defeated Uzbekistan 3-0, while the girls registered a 3-0 win over Syria.
On Day 2, the boys continued their winning run with another 3-0 victory, this time against Vietnam. The girls also remained in contention with a 2-1 win over Malaysia.
The third day brought contrasting results for the two Indian teams. The girls maintained their unbeaten run with a 2-1 victory over Indonesia, while the boys were involved in a closely fought tie against Chinese Taipei, eventually going down 1-2.
The results set up different paths for both boys’ and girls’ teams for the final stages of the competition. The girls progressed to the position 1-4 playoffs stage, while the boys entered the position 5-8 playoffs.
The boys responded strongly in the final stages, defeating Indonesia 2-1 before overcoming Vietnam 2-1 in the fifth-place playoff to finish fifth overall. The girls finished fourth, following a 2-1 victory over Indonesia in the quarterfinal stage before defeats against China (0-3) and South Korea (0-3) in the subsequent ties.
Despite the different paths through the final stages, both Indian teams achieved the important objective of securing qualification for the World Tennis 12&U Intercontinental Cup in Kazakhstan, giving the young players another opportunity to compete on the international stage.
The week in Singapore also provided the young Indian players with an opportunity to visit and experience the Singapore Tennis Open, a WTA 500-level event.
The qualification for the intercontinental competition marks another important step for Indian junior tennis, with the young players now set to carry their experience from Singapore into the next stage of their international journey in Kazakhstan.
