Hungarian teenager Zsombor Velcz defeated American third seed Dusty H. Boyer in the singles final of the ITF Men’s $15,000 Gurugram to lift the champion’s trophy yesterday.
The tournament, which began on 22nd November in Haryana’s Gurugram city, came to conclusion with a fitting finale which produced an enthralling battle where the 19-year-old Velcz won in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
This is Velcz’s maiden ITF title of his career.
In the doubles action, top seeds Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni won against fourth seeds SD Prajwal Dev and Rishi Reddy 6-4, 7-6 (6) in an all-Indian affair in final.
In India, the ITF World Tennis Tour next moves to Bengaluru for Women’s $15,000 event.
