Day 6 (Final Day) India Beat China to secure 3 rd place: India once again proved its supremacy over China by beating them 2-1 to secure the 3 rd place in tie for the 3 rd place of the World Junior Tennis Championship, Asia Oceania Zone at kuching, Malaysia. Earlier in the league matches, 5 th seed India had upset the 4 th seed China to top the group. Indian No. 2 Sahil Deshmukh gave India a rousing start by beating his Chinese counterpart Su Hao Zhong 7-5 6-3 in 2 hr 13 min. Sahil broke his opponent in the very first game and stayed with the break to win the first set 7-5 in 1 hr 20 min. In the second set, Sahil broke his Chinese Opponent in the 1 st & 9 th game to win the second set 6-3 in 53 min. In the second match, it was a tough going for India's No.1 Sumit Nagal against the Chinese No. 1 Xu Fan Zhao as he probably hadn''t recovered from his long match against Korea yesterday in the semifinals and was quickly a set down in 25 min by getting broken in 2 nd , 4 th & 6 th games. Sumit managed to break his opponent in the 5 th game but that wouldn't help. The second set was more interesting as Sumit fought back being 0-4 down. Sumit broke Zhao in the 9 th game to make it 4-5 but the Chinese raced away with the next 2 games to win the second set and the match. The match lasted 1 hr 20 min The outcome depended on the Indian combination of Sahil Deshhmukh & Sumit Nagal in a dramatic doubles match against the Chinese combination of Su Hao Zhong / Xu Fan Zhou. The Indian biys played a match of their life to beat the strong Chinese doubles combination 7-5, 0-6, 7-5 in a match that lasted 2 hr 47 min. The Indians were down 0-3 in the first set Nagal was broken in the 2 nd game. They won the next 4 games in a row to go up 4-3 and it went equal until the 11 th game when Su Hao was broken and Sahil held his serbe to win the first set 7-5 in 1 hr. A lapse in concentration by the Indian boys in the beginning of the 2 nd set allowed the Chinese to come back strongly to win the 2 nd set 6-0 in 36 min. In the deciding set too, the Chinese ran to a 3-0 lead by breaking Sahil in the 2 nd game. The Indian combination won the next 2 games to make it 2-3 but again Nagal was broken and India were down 2-4. Then 4-4 for india with a break and the crucial 9 th game had two bad calls from the umpire going against the Indians and were down 4-5. Nagal held his serve to level the scores and broke Xu Fan in the 11 th game before Sahil holding his serve in the 12 th game to have the match and tie in India's favor.
Korea won this event beating Japan 2-1 in the finals.
