India finishes joint seventh
(Asia Oceania World Junior tournament, Anqing)

MONDAY 10, MAY 2010.

Indian boys finished joint seventh with New Zealand as rain washed out play on the final day of the Asia-Oceania World junior under-14 tennis tournament in Anqing, China.

The organisers arranged for the final to be played indoors and that saw top seed Australia prevail 2-1 over the host, fourth-seeded China.

Results (final): Australia bt China 2-1 (Chen Li Tu lost to Weiqiang Zheng 2-6, 3-6; Blake Mott bt Xin Chen 6-3, 6-3; Blake Mott & Chen Li Tu bt Fajing Sun & Weiqiang Zheng 6-4, 6-4).

Final placings: 1. Australia, 2. China, 3. Korea, Japan, 5. Thailand, Chinese Taipei, 7. New Zealand, India, 9. Hong Kong, Singapore, 11. Malaysia, Uzbekistan, 13. Sri Lanka, 14. Indonesia, 15. Syria, the Philippines .
