Aryan upsets BR Nikshep

Aryan Goveas shocked top seed B R Nikshep in three sets to set up a title clash with Yash Yadav in the AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament in Nerul.

Third seeded Goveas trailed his opponent 1-4 in the deciding third set before clinching the match by winning five games in a row for a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 victory in the boys under 12 semifinals.

In the other semifinal, Yadav accounted for fifth seed Avilash Mishra 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.

The girls under-12 final will pit second seed Nandini Das against third seed Y Pranjali following the players' victories over Kamran Kaur and Vanshika Sawhney respectively.

Boys under-14: Nikhil Kanan bt Dhir Gala 6-3, 6-2; Nikhil Passi bt Indra Patwardhan 6-1, 6-2.

Boys under-12: Aryan Goveas bt B R Nikshep 6-3, 4-6, 6-4; Yash Yadav bt Avilash Mishra 6-3, 1-6, 6-4

Girls under-12: Nandini Das bt Vanshika Sawhney 6-2, 6-3; Y Pranjala bt Kamran Kaur 7-6 (3), 6-4.
