Bhuvana, Digvijay triumph

Third-seeded K. Bhuvana pipped the top-seeded Amrita Mukherjee 6-2, 2-6, 7-6(2) in the girls’ final of the AITA National series under-16 tennis tournament.

The boys’ title went to second-seeded Digvijay Singh Mehta, as the top-seeded Arjun Kadhe, battling a back spasm, retired after losing five games.

Results: Boys: Final: Digvijay Singh Mehta bt Arjun Kadhe 5-0 (retired);

Semifinals: Arjun Kadhe bt Abdullah Shaik 6-3, 6-3; Digvijay Singh Mehta bt Ajay Yadav 6-3, 6-1.

Doubles: Final: Arjun Kadhe and Ajay Yadav bt Suraj Konwar and Saurabh Patil 4-6, 7-5, 10-8.

Girls: Final: K. Bhuvana bt Amrita Mukherjee 6-2, 2-6, 7-6(2);

Semifinals: Amrita Mukherjee bt Tarrannum Handa 6-1, 6-1; K. Bhuvana bt Likitha Shetty 6-3, 7-6(5). Doubles: Final: Namita Bal and Amrita Mukherjee bt Rimpledeep Kaur and Tarrannum Handa 7-6(5), 3-6, 10-4.
