Qualifier Rohan Gajjar’s run at the $15,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament came to a halt as he lost to Kazakh Alexey Kedryuk at the DLTA Complex.Kedryuk brought an end to the Indian’s challenge with a 6-2, 6-3 win in a little over an hour.
Hitting confident forehand winners, Kedryuk wrapped up the first set with an ace.
In the second set, Kedryuk broke Gajjar’s serve in the fifth game and ninth games to win the match. The Kazakh will take on German Alexander Staschko in the final on Saturday. Staschko defeated Bulgaria’s Simeon Ivanov, 6-1, 6-4 in the second semifinal. The Indian pair of Vivek Shokeen and Ashutosh Singh won the doubles title beating the Indo-Kazakh duo of Vijay Kannan and Kedryuk 3-6, 7-6(5), 10-5.
